How will megatrends shape the next decade?

Making predictions is hard, especially about future megatrends. AI is clearly going to make a difference in the next 10 years, enhancing efficiency, productivity and decision making for individuals, companies, governments and investors, globally. Adjacent to that is how we produce the energy to power AI and how we make it more energy efficient. The energy transition from fossil to renewable will continue.

We are also seeing accelerating advances in health sciences that are expected to mitigate diseases and extend lifespans even further. Longevity is an interesting challenge for anyone looking at retirement and how to help people with their savings, investing, spending and protection needs. We spend a lot of time thinking about this and how to deliver the best solutions for clients.

The major geopolitical personalities of today will all be in their 80s and, while forecasting here is especially uncertain, the mix of global trade policy, regional conflicts and a move towards a more multi-polar world is unlikely to be the same as it has been. A decade of populism or increasing inequality could be challenging. In the meantime, we can see a continuation of increased defence spending, creating more secure supply chains, more secure data and energy supplies.
