How will megatrends shape the next decade?

AI is expected to significantly transform the coming decade, particularly in Western countries, where it will predominantly enhance high-skilled jobs. AI is poised to boost productivity, drive economic growth and reshape the professional landscape. The software industry has already seen significant improvements in productivity through automation and optimised workflows.

The application of AI will then broaden to other knowledge-intensive fields such as legal and consulting services, improving decision-making processes and streamlining tasks. AI will transform education by its ability to tailor learning experiences to individual needs, improving educational outcomes and preparing a more skilled workforce, thereby further increasing present and future productivity levels.

ESG considerations are also increasingly central in investment decisions, influencing the evolution of financial markets and, we believe, will shape financial markets in the next decade. Investors are increasingly considering sustainability alongside financial returns, and more investors might shift away from companies that do not adhere to ESG criteria.

Several governments are offering incentives for sustainable practices. As awareness of environmental and social issues grows globally and regulatory frameworks evolve, we may see a broader integration of ESG criteria within financial markets. This could influence everything from capital allocation to compliance and reporting. However, the potential impact of ESG may be constrained and unpredictable due to the uncertain risks associated with the Trump administration. In his previous term Trump decided to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement.
